Isn’t it just the most electric satisfying affirming feeling when people you think are so freakin cool become your friends? When at one point they seemed so galactic, so achieved, notable, and dynamic you thought: “Damn, how dope would it be if we were friends?”
Then opportunity strikes, beating heart now thumping as they are in front of you- a window opens, a door ajar…. “Damn baby, be cool” your internal dialogue tells you. Then the moment… do I go for it or don’t I. Am I as cool as them? Should I go for it? The thump beat becomes the anthem for the leap, the moment when you open your mouth for the first words of potential connection… and shabaaam it happens. Laughs exchanged, ideas thrown out, a glimmer in their eye that you now believe says “yaaaaa you’re cool, we can hang, you pass the test”
And then one hang leads to another, a hug to a party invite, a collaboration, perhaps a life changing turn in the road for the more extraordinary. You become interwoven in each other’s life tapestry….
then sometime later it dawns on you “oh my god, I’m officially friends with them and we are on the same level. I jumped to the upper realms of awesome. Look at how far I’ve come! Well hot damn, looks like I’m cool as hell, as well”
Remember those moments. Remember how far you’ve come. Remember just as cool as you thought they are, someone else thinks that of you…. You know how it goes- most of the time they thought the same about you
